Here's the last update on the ACBL's possible 2010 franchise in Torrington. www.registercitizen.com/articles/2009/11/03/news/doc4aefb6cecf3a0940095778.txtTorrington got solid attendance numbers in the NECBL, usually a little under 1,000 per game. Does anyone know how this compares to other ACBL teams? Also, can anyone explain how the work with two divisions? Do they play each other or are they separate until the title series, like the NYCBL?

I believe that a 1,000 fans per game is a very solid number as compared to the ACBL. I don't believe that the two divisions play each other until the championship.

That's right Andrew, 1,000 would be very solid for the ACBL. The Quakertown Blazers led the league in attendance with a paltry 167 per game although most of the teams didn't provide details ie the Long Island clubs.

Here's some more exact attendance figures for the Torrington Twisters (NECBL). These are the game averages from 2001-08.
2001- 1,216 2002- 1,467 2003- 829 2004- 1,112 2005- 951 2006- 1,172 2007- 1,019 2008- 850
I think people in Torrington understand that the ACBL is far less established than the NECBL, but I would still expect 500-750 per game, which is apparently very strong for the ACBL.

Torrington would be to the ACBL what Bethesda is, attendance wise, to the Cal Ripken league - miles ahead of the rest.

Is it that the teams of the ACBL don't promote their teams to the public well enough or could it be that their goal is to just have a quality league and not worry about attendance? The league is solid, good enough to draw a nice amount of fans.

The relocated Peekskill Robins will be called the Torrington Titans.

That's good to hear. A few of the other names that were being kicked around were pretty shaky... I wonder how they'll do attendance-wise.

Well, they'll only have to average more than Quakertown's 167 to lead the league.

WOW, and I was disappointed the few times we had less than a thousand people out.

New York is a VERY busy market for baseball, with many IL, EL, and NYPL minor league teams. The state also has three CSL's (that I know of) squeezed in- ECBL, ACBL, NYCBL.
