The Tri County Bees out of Amsterdam and the Schenectady Pirates are the two newsest franchises in the ECBL. The league now has six teams. Besides the Bees and Pirates, the Rome Thunderbolts, Utica Brewers, Sherrill Silversmiths and Oriskany Blazers make up the ECBL. This is an up and coming league that is getting better every season. I heard about the Bees coming into the league, but I hadn't heard about Schenectady. ECBL is growing.

Schenectady actual moved their franchise from Vermont. It really works out because Vermont was really out of the way from the rest of the league.

Sounds like the ECBL is on the right track for growth.

If I'm not mistaken, there are already NYCBL teams in Amsterdam and also in nearby Albany. Anyone know why the league decided to move the teams to these cities?

I'm not sure, but sheenestevez is the GM/Pres. of the Rome Thunderbolts. He might know.

As far as Amsterdam, the Tri-County Bees have been there for a number of years. They've shared a home field with the Amsterdam Mohawks for some time. However, the NYCBL team has precedent on that particular field. The Bees are very established and bring a quality organization to the ECBL.....As far as Schenectady, there was an NYCBL team there a number of years ago. Schenectady has no baseball there now so this franchise that has moved from Vermont will now be playing in that city. The ECBL is growing. We are strong league that plays really good quality baseball and collegiate coaches are sending us quality players to prove it. There's a lot of room in NY State to have a few collegiate leagues. www.leaguelineup.com/romethunderbolts
